I'm not saying I'm perfect.
But when my husband goes grocery shopping, he comes home with bruised fruit. A moldy dent in the pepper. A mushy half of a banana. Pretty much without fail.
So if I care about the produce, I do the shopping. That's just my life now. I've made my peace with it.
Years ago my friend told me his husband left a wet towel on the bathroom floor every single day. No matter how many times he asked, there it was, a soggy heap on the floor. He finally decided it wasn't worth the fight. He'd either pick it up himself or leave it. But he was done being upset about it.
This comes up constantly in organizing.
If you set up a system and no one else in your house maintains it, you have a decision to make. Is it worth the conversation, or is it worth letting go? Is it worth finding a new system?
A good system should work for the people actually using it, not just the person who built it. That's one of the first things I look at with every client.
Pick your battles. Let go of the rest. And if you don't know where to start, that's what I'm here for.
