I love to snuggle into a cozy hoodie when the weather starts to turn a little nippy in the evenings.
What I don't love is having my shorts that I will no longer wear until next summer in the way of the cozy sweatshirts.
The switch from summer clothes to fall clothes can be a half hour reset, or it can turn into a two week avoidance spiral where you're digging through three different bins looking for one specific sweatshirt. The difference is entirely whether you have a system that works efficiently.
Pick the same week every year, maybe a week or two after Labor Day, and do the full swap in one sitting. Summer clothes into bins, fall clothes out on shelves and in drawers. (My grandmother would suggest you launder them first before going into bins, but sometimes I put them in even if they are not freshly washed. I have to pick my battles.)
Added bonus to include the whole family for a rousing reset session! And have everyone try things on while you're at it and donate what doesn't fit. You will get some grumbles, but it's worth it for mornings where no one is sifting through twice as many clothes as they actually wear.
